Go to the Colonial Zone. This is historical section of SD. You can find Christopher Columbus' son's house, the first church in the new world and many other buildings dating back to the 1500's. There are also some nice bars and restaurants. Go to the Hotel Conde de Penalba. They have a great outdoor cafe for food, drink and people watching. Go on-line and search for other activities in SD. Be careful when walking around that you are not carrying a lot of cash or wearing jewerly. As a "gringa" you will stand out. Just use common sense and you will be fine. Good luck and good luck.
I once was told if you can't tell it doesn't matter. I still welcome this person and hope they enjoy the vacation time here whether macho or embra.
