Look everybody, Jane J, AZB, and of of course the greatest man
alive the artist formerly known as the Prince of the DR yes you Chris, guys I respect your opinions because they are just that opinions. On one hand you say that the Dominican woman has difficulty surviving without her family and on the next you are saying that once she enters the states she will change cheat steal from you deceive you and god only knows what else. To me
family is a structure for learning what is right and what is wrong
do you mean to tell me that for a support system that is so important to the Dominican woman that she would bring shame to her family by engaging in this ruse of deception and pursuit
of dishonest? That point is what I'm not getting from you all are
you saying that many families in the DR are teaching their women the finer points of dishonesty and deceit?

Again I think you all are doing a dis service to the Dominican woman unless I am a fool I saw Dominican women in their own
element in Santiago they didn't know that I was a Gringo because I didn't open my mouth I just observed what I saw were
very proud women that despite their hardship still managed to survive and fight the good fight. You all may have more experience than I when it comes to the DR however when it comes to what I have seen and been lead to understand you people are not even a close second.

I'm not some irrational nut looking for a trophy remeber in my earlier posts I used the word "quest" I know of no quests which have been carried out during a 7 or 14 day vacation do you all?

I'm willing to believe in the Dominican woman where it seems like some of you are ready to disbelieve in her.

And a Dominican woman because as I said earlier I want a woman as my wife eventually that is fundamentally different from me I want a woman that I can learn her culture and she can partake in mine that exchange of different experiences in and of itself sustains the curiousity in a relationship, I don't desire an American woman I want to learn other cultures and ways of life
that are different from my own, and from what I have seen so far
I could not imagine a better place than the Republica,
I'm not some sex starved maniac like some of the other visitors
to your island. I want a real relationship built on understanding
and re-enforced by trust that has been developed over a sufficiently lengthy period of time.

And for you'll that think otherwise STOP CASTING ME AS SOME
PRAWLER FROM THE STATES LOOKING FOR A TROPHY,
IM LOOKING FOR WHAT I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND IN THE
STATES OVER THE LAST 10 YEARS,

AND WHO ARE YOU TO JUDGE ANYWAY? COLUMBUS HAD IT RIGHT
THE DR IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PLACE ON EARTH EVEN IF SOME ITS INHABITANTS STILL BELIEVE THAT EARTH IS FLAT!

Let me tell you ....When I was planning on moving here I got alot of negativity from this place. Warnings about how hard life is here. It made me angry. I almost fealt that they didn{t want me here but I{m a bit head strong and did what I fealt. But later I realized that they were all trying to help in their own way. Trying to not make everything seem like a bed of thornless roses!
I think that is the same they are doing here. There have been good things said but it always seems that the bad is what a person remembers. ["The evil men do lives after them. The good is oft intered with the bones". (Some great guy said something like that while talking to Rome). Just remember the people here in general are trying to help you, hoping your not looking at life through rose colored glasses. So just take what they say and put it in the back of your mind to use the advise if needed.
Heres a thought...just to weed the bad ones out...when you meet tell them your never returning to EE.UU. Then you'll know if they want you for USA or for you!
And now guys! Lets hear some positive dominican love stories!

Dear Isaac: I posted my ideas some time ago. They are still valid.

Certainly your "quest" will not be over in a few weeks, we can all agree on that.

Please take it easy, so slow, and perhaps she will appear...

Ana - great post, was thinking the exact same thing.

Isaac - if you don't want an American wife, perhaps you shouldn't plan on falling in love with a Dominican then taking her to the US and turning her into an American.

You have recevied the wisdom of the board in full force. Now it is up to you to use it or ignore it. I would love you hear back from you in 12months.

Take care, and watch that stove!

Two 'DR' marriages that just bearly worked out . . .

I think that (in part) HB might be referring to this message thread:

"A note to JayUK coming to DR (and others) Long.."

"As perhaps the elder/eldest non-Dominican-born resident poster here, allow me to let my nearly 40 years of experience come into play. Bear with me. . . ."

Just for the record I have been married to a Dominican woman for almost 12 years, and each year is better than the last one.Her family are great and I have the utmost respect for them.
All the Dominicans I know are hardworking postive people.
My wife has read some of the posts here and she wonders what kind of people would talk about her people this way.
We have had our share problems, but nothing that couldn't be resolved..go for it my son

Just let things happen!

Hey Isaac,

I understand how you can like Dominican Women, I have a long distance relationship with a Dominican Women I met down there while I was on Vacation. One thing I found is when you push for things they tend not to happen or you end up with the wrong person, Your best to just let things happen on there own. As you will likely find the special person for you that way. One hint of advice is not to try and make things happen over night.

Example, Its been a year and half since I last saw her and We are still talking on the phone. But I have been getting to know her quite well and I enjoy her company on the phone.

Things have progressed slowly but now I figure she is perfect for me since we are still talking on the phone and because we have a lot of the same interests. I have learned spanish over the phone mostly from her. If stereotypes were true wouldn't she have stopped talking to me after 6 months.

I suggest that If you just want to meet a Dominican Women, But you are picky about who you want meet, Go and spend a good length of time down there. Not everything happens in 1 or 2 weeks. But get to know the people over time, Don't rush her into moving to the US, Canada or whatever. If you can get to know her down in the Dominican, that will be good for you both.

And every country has their share of gold diggers. It also is not just women who are the gold diggers men tend to be also just as bad. So just make sure you spend time getting to know someone that is the only sure way to avoid getting hurt in the end.

Good Luck Man

Kokanne: Here is a question a lot of people would like to see the answer to:

"How much money have you sent her over the past year?"

It might clear up a few points. thank you.

Hey Guys,

This may supprise most of you. I have only given her $200 dollars
CAD. This was to help cover her phone bills. Now I doubt any of you think that is some absurd amount of money.

My guess

$100 says it's a typo on "Kokanee", a glacier in Canada, and a sweeeeeeeeeet beer brewed in British Columbia.

??

Beer looks interesting. I had the nick pegged as a take off on cocaine = kokanne??

As for his future, I still stand by my three rules outlined way back when....
1) Has a much money as you in DR $ as you do in CND$ & a bank account...
2) Has a visa to travel to the US
3) Has at least your level of education

My Nicks worth

Hey Guys,

I figured that Kokanee the beer was already taken by my Favorite Beer that I put on a level = to presidente. But I wanted to be somewhat original so I changed the spelling to suit me.

Thanks for the positive comments.
