Drinking competition gone bad
I would hope the promoters and who ever owns the nightclub will face serious charges ....to promote something like this is pure stupidity
stupidity is putting it mildly. even farm animals are capable of more intelligent behavior..
Dominicans have that thing where they down the shots of white rum....

A local fellow here in Cabrera was involved one night....26-27 yrs old.
There was an altercation.... not that much... seemed to be over with.
A short while later, one of the little shot glasses was swapped out - not rum but pesticide or insecticide.
The boy drank it.
He was dead in 10 days of perforated intestines.

Had this young man gone off to college he would have learned early on that downing a whole bottle of liquor in one go is more than a tad foolish.
Those of us who have been educated wait at least 1 minute between shots to allow our livers to stay on top of things.

i don't think you need to attend advanced institutions of learning to be able to instinctively grasp the stupidity of certain exertions. i cannot think of any course i took in my college years which have any bearing on the need for judicious consumption of alcoholic beverages.
This is not the first kid to die doing stupid stuff, it happens around the planet.

It's an old trick.... 1 or 2oz of beer a minute.....

but for this act to be promoted in an actual night club is beyond stupidity and then for them to say they knew nothing about it is ridiculous

Reminds me of the casino scam thread, it's got to be somebody else's fault besides the participants. Numbers of colleges kids across the country die every year from alcohol overdose and the family usually will sue the school. I was very fortunate in college when playing drinking games "quarters" I threw up on my class mates after 3 beers.
...Your liver can only process 1 oz of alcohol per hour........the only way to stop fatal alcohol poisoning, is to empty ones stomach, and drink a charcoal mix.........and then maybe with that much alcohol.....maybe?...........
That was always always the law, the legal way to stay sober.... one drink per hour.

I used to offer that in my bar. Nobody ever did it, few got past 30 minutes. But a shot a minute is only 5 beers.
The funny thing is I can drink 5 beers in an hour and barely feel a buzz. But one shot a minute.. hooo boy!
I'd be willing to bet the kid was three sheets to the wind when he attempted this. Videos of folks drinking an entire bottle of spirits abound on youtube. Doesn't make it smart.
I had crazy college friends who did almost the same with jack Daniels, Jim Beam, etc ..
but they had enough common sense (and people who cared about them made sure ) that they excused themselves within like 1 minute of ingesting it, to Puke it all out.. It was only done for a DARE or a Bet, not to keep it inside. that is just a deadly thing to do .. very few people in the world can ingest that much Alcohol in such a short time, keep it down , and live to talk about it . The Liver needs time to process it .. Once you go over .40 anything can happen.
Andre the Giant was one of these rare people though,. he supposedly needed like 2 FIFTHS ( 750 ml) of hard liquor just to get a NICE BUZZ going . Not only was he Huge, his body functioned differently and he liked to Drink.. I guess it soothed is Aches and Pains .
Very sad to see such a senseless loss of Life ..
