After much cedula talk, there may be still more to learn.

I cautioned my friend yesterday about her renewal , suggesting that recent changes to the process might make a switch to citizenship seem attractive.
I pointed out the medical exam, etc.....

She looked into it.
She got residency in 1984. The grandfather clause is from 1985, she claims.
She slipped the noose.

I was shocked that you needed over 30 yrs seniority to br grandfathered.
That's a loooong time.

Grandfather on the last go around was residency prior to 1995 not 85. At that time you skipped all the crap and renewed with just your residency passport and money. I had asked in another thread about exemptions now and Guzman indicated there were no exceptions any more. Will have to look up the link but was in legal. I was exempt in the last go around in residency requirements,

here is the thread

I read down but responding to the first. As far as I know, their are no medical tests for a Cedula. All you need is your Residence and your good.

You MAY have to do a med. for the Residence... even though you did it "last time". The 10 year renewal rule was thrown out a few years ago and everyone had to start over.

I don't know anything about a grandfather clause or if that has anything to due with a Cedula.

The cedula renewal I refer to is in conjunction with the residency renewal very four years.
To my knowledge, that calls for blood and urine tests.

I may be wrong.....
Cedula renewal for citizen is different....Again to my knowledge

That's it bienamor,
I mistakenly titled the thread Cedula, it's really a Residency issue.
Whether anybody gets a 'pass' any more.

Sorry to all for any confusion...... and my stupidity
