Anyone know about the Alma de Llanera places in Santo Domingo? They make these venezuelan foods there, and cachapas are outathisworld. If anyone knows how to make these, please submit a recipe.

If you are in the Dominican Republic, many of the supermarkets sell a cachapa mix. It includes most of the ingredients necessary.

I spent a year in Venezuela and developed a great liking for cachapas. Wish they were more readily available in the DR.

Cachapas are flat corn cakes (not like tortillas) filled with different things like chicken, beef and eggplant. We always like the chicken one. They also mix cheese and spices with it. They fry them on a large grill. You'll have to try them next time you are in Santo Domingo.
