Amazing sculpture

While it is hot and sunny in the DR, it is snowy and icy in parts of Canada. Time for the Winter carnivals and ice sculpture contests.

I though all in the DR would like to see an amazing sculpture in ice. This should win 1st prize. This picture was emailed to me, not much snow here this winter in Southern Ontario

The legacy of 911 goes on.

The woman who carved this is from Timmins, Ontario (Shania Twain's hometown). Appartently, she wins the ice-sculpting contests every year...the sculpture is breathtaking.

Giving credit where due!!

This was posted in my hometime newpaper- The North Bay Nugget. South Porcupine is just outside of Timmins,Ontario.
I can't beleive this only took second place!! Here's the report:

Diane Racicot: The South Porcupine resident has won accolades for her ice sculpture of an angel leaning on the shoulder of an exhausted New York firefighter ? a truly emotional and inspirational sculpture. Photographs of her creation have been sent across North America, and she was even featured on the American television show Good Morning America.
Racicot created her sculpture based on a photograph she had seen following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on New York City. Racicot entered her creation in the South Porcupine-Porcupine Winter Carnival, but incredibly it placed second in the competition. However, her subsequent international attention and acclaim should lessen a little of that particular disappointment.
