Good Morning All

I have a friend who is buying a used car from a well known Car Dealership .

I'm trying to find out for her

1 ) What paper work(car title) is proof that she owns the car does she need to receive from the dealer?

2)is their anything else as far as documents she should given when she leaves with the car?

I don't own a car so i don't know. I told I would post it here to find out

Thanks in advance

She need if she buy it cash the car title and a letter from the dealer sign for the transaction. The dealer is giving you the one car plate fixed at the back.

Matricula is what a car title is called in the DR.

Please check to make sure there are no liens/opposition against the vehicle;

Certainly the bill of sale/contract would be nice.

If it is a well known car dealership....then one could assume its reputation is also well known. Most times they will handle the entire transfer, saving you a lot of hassle etc....just make sure they have a good reputation.

Your friend will likely also need to have the car inspected by the insurance company before they will write a valid policy. Beware of dealers who offer to obtain your insurance and never provide actual documents.

And don't forget to get the Marbete and Revista.

Ask the dealer.

That's never happened to me and I haven't heard of it happening to anyone else. Maybe it's because I buy cheap cars.

I bought a 2016 in 2015 and the insurance company inspected the car when I went to their office to initiate the policy in P.C. They also photographed the interior and exterior of the car, even though it was new at the time. They just want to be sure there is no pre-existing damage to the car before they insure it. In order to obtain the Matricula from the dealer, I had to prove I had residency in the D.R.

Perhaps you only had minimum compulsory insurance.

Every car I have ever registered over the years and added coverage too beyond compulsory, required an inspection.....and yes to the post regarding photos by the insurance company, but no to the residency requirement. I have had multiple vehicles registered without residency.
