I know that this has been posted before but there appears to be more cases of this drug now. It comes from a plant called Angel's Trumpet or, as the Dominicans call it, campana, and is apparently used to drug victims, who can then be robbed or raped.

It was reported by Nuria recently here http://endominicana.net.do/2017/10/...rundanga-droga-que-te-roba-tu-voluntad-video/

and also here

http://endominicana.net.do/2017/10/...rundanga-droga-que-te-roba-tu-voluntad-video/

Not only is it used to drug people (it has none or little taste or smell so is easily put into drinks or food) it is also being used in the barrios as a recreational hallucinogenic drug - they make tea with it.

However in stronger doses it can lead to delirium, psychosis, paralysis and death. According to the local clinic here, they are beginning to see more and more cases of people having been drugged with it.

It has also been linked to several deaths in the US (this link in English).

So if anyone suddenly starts feeling weird, hallucinating, dry mouth, rapid heart beat - get yourself to the nearest hospital.

Thanks Robert, and sorry you had first hand experience. I seem to remember on previous threads, people did not believe it, but it is very real here in the DR now. I just want people to be aware.

Where I think the lack of belief tended to be was in how you could be overcome by scopolamine.
Just by touching a piece of paper with scopolamine on it? Umm... Ingesting it? For sure. Enough can kill you.

I have no idea how it was administered to me, likely drink or food.

I was woken up by a friend around 12hrs later in my apartment, looking a little worse for wear.
At least I wasn't violated and now know I can sleep with my contacts lenses in with no serious side effects. LOL!

Actually, the only side effect was some short term memory loss, not total, but partial.
I cannot remember the events very well and the next day I brought a new laptop, but honestly have no recollection of making the purchase, going to the store etc. Weird!
