Tonight, 12/3, is the night when the moon is full at perigee, approx. 25,000 miles closer to earth and will appear 7% larger than "normal." This is an uncommon event.

Last night the moon was really bright.

Supposedly the best time to get the full effect of the super moon is after sunset when it rises, and the atmosphere makes it look larger.

In Santiago moonrise is at 6:25pm tonight, and total darkness is 7:21pm.

I will be in my beach chair with cocktail watching. I'm just north of Punta Cana so the rise out of the ocean should be at about 6 pm and the sky is clear.

If you go to the tide chart for POP... it shows the moon rise & set times below

6:25 tonite for the rise.
Shouldn’t be much different anywhere on the island

It was great. From our vantage point just to the south was a large thunderhead cloud that kept lighting up while the moon was rising.
Truly worth watching.

It provided a resplendent backdrop to the firepit on my rear patio. Simply magnificent.

It was so incredible last night and at the same time, there was a rainbow. Never saw a rainbow at night before. Friends had an app that showed us which planets and where the space station was; the clouds passed and the moon was so huge almost didn't look real; it was an awesome experience.
