Our next one is 10 years. Hope I make it that long. Depending on how complicated the next government makes it I just might go for it.
Next week I go for the drivers licence renewal. I wanted to do it today on the way home but I didn't want to get a divorce as well.

No - residency (permanent) is easily renewed.... just 10-14 days

    I renewed in April
My wife is in the renewal line now and we are waiting

Apparently, the DGM is very busy...
the response times are quite slow.

We hit the renew button on the 45 day advance mark and are still waiting for the 'Go Ahead'

July 17 is her date....so early June the lawyer submitted the request letter
    No answer yet -
very busy , we were told

Is that just for Permanent or Temporary as well?

... and if you think they're busy now, just wait until all the people who want to stay longer than the thirty day tourist visa are sent to the DGM office!

    Was at Migracion today...

Showed up at 9... was at the window in 20 minutes...
    Wait 1/2 hour for payment....

    Looking good.... fast!

Then came the wait.... for the blood/ urine/etc

Finally done at 1pm only because we lucked out in the lab draw.... across the street

In the waiting period.... did meat, National, Bravo.... all errands done

This was my wife’s renewal.... now wait for the final & cedula

    Not fun

you wrote earlier: "so early June the lawyer submitted the request letter"

What letter do you need for renewal?

I thought letter was only needed for temp to permanent and permanent to definitive residency category change.

Not sure ... just my lawyer saying she was proceeding with the application and the request letter was submitted

it took a bit longer .. but I am always early

Seems to need to state your intentions... I suppose

anyway - we are in motion..
