Podiatrist or Foot surgeon

My recently deceased mom had feet disfigured by rheumatoid arthritis. Got where she could not walk or wear shoes - only socks. I hope you find relief but I am not sure surgery is the right answer for advanced RA - and the 'claw toe' syndrome as my mom experienced.

They can due joint fusion, rarely joint replacement or removal of the synovium which lines the joint. Probably they are expensive surgeries and somewhat likely to give only partial relief from pain and your will walk like a penguin for a while.

We explored this with several RA specialists for my mother but they said because of her age and likelihood that the results would be underwhelming they wouldn't undertake the surgery. Most doctors will push the NSAIDs for several months.

I have OA not RA.
I thought that maybe they can do something at the tendon level. 
I have seen someone with a "pinned" toe to relieve hammer toe and that looked fine.
I just want to consult and see options if any.

I know a good one in Santo Domingo if you don't have any luck finding one up north.

Dr. miguel ortiz is the best and probably the most famous one in DR.
