My son is supposed to be leaving NYC for DR in the morning at 11. He's a teacher there on spring break as of yesterday...... BIG PROBLEM..........he took his passport to school to show the kids and LEFT IT there..........no passport.........has NY State picture ID and social security card etc............. can he get in??? what should he do????????????

He shouldn't have a problem, unless 9/11 changed things. Passports are not required for entry by US citizens. Good luck!

One other thing he can do just in case is get a letter signed by a notorized public saying he is who he is. This costs about $50 US and should be able to be done at the airport. Make sure he gets to the airport early.

Doesn't he have a birth certificate?
It's not getting in to the DR, it's coming back to the US that he has to worry about.

He also has his return ticket. He needs to prove that he is a US citizen. That's all he needs to get a Tourist Card (+$10.00).

?ourse he should have his head examined for taking his passport to his school!!
