Hi,
This one is aimed at people who have stayed in the Occidental hotels in DR. I'll be on holiday at the Occidental Playa Dorada next week and have a question about the hotels safety deposit boxes.

I read in previous posts that each room has a safety deposit box, but they are very expensive to hire. Does the hotel have a safe in the reception that guests can use free of charge or are they forced to pay for the room safes ?

Safe in Room...

Hi,

I am staying at Occidental Flamenco this week (I leave tomorrow) and I was told the safe only costs US$15...I don't think that's so bad. You have to ask for a key for the safe when you check in....you pay the $15 when you checkout.

Hope this helps.

Charges for the boxes is a sham

Some hotels do not charge for this service which makes it obvious to me that the ones that do are the ones to stay away from. Guaranteed that this will not be the only "hidden" charge you will encounter during your trip. I would rather pay a little more and be free from this aggravation, especially on holiday!
