I did wonder how can so much caoba furniture be sold at relatively cheap prices in a country where the caoba tree is not only considered the national tree, but also protected. Imported caoba can't possibly be cost effective for much of the relatively cheap 'caoba wood' furniture that's sold nationwide.

Most of the modern Caoba is imported from Honduras/Panama....etc. I have antique Caoba furniture, I know it is real mahogany, as I have done plenty of woodworking and have owned numerous Antiques.
