It is a good idea for govt to practice. Why can't you have some fun too?

We can help add realism by hopping into our cars and turning the roadways into parking lots. When you can't drive any further, lay down a blanket and have a picnic or an hour or two. Those without cars, you can still help by making call after call after call on your cell phone. You know the system isn't going to work when the entire country is trying to reach out and touch someone at the same time. It's probably a good idea to let the govt and the cell companies know that their infrastructure is going to fail...who knows, maybe we can get a few new hardened towers erected (maybe not). I bet the govt is relying heavily on cellular communications during a disaster.

At some point on March 14, unplug your internet connection for an hour. Feel the panic rise as you contemplate this not being a sporadic outage like we are all used to but an event that will see the internet gone for a long time. Have a look at your propane tanks. Are they secured upright to a wall so they can't fall over and break the connecting hoses and spew propane all over the place?

So. You can't go anywhere, call anyone, you can't download any porn from the internet and you have only what you have on hand. Are you ready? Does your Embassy know where you are so maybe someone will come looking for you eventually? Got something to do to pass the time, got some candle to see what you are doing? It's a long time from sunset to sunrise.

Without a doubt. The difference being the happenstance of the seemingly random failures becoming a certainty of failure of everything at the same time.
