"Local" Dining is Las Terrenas ? We will be by Gregorio Luperon. Prefer DR food

I am booking a AirBNB is Gregorio Luperon street... by the casino. I am coming from NYC .... French & Italian cuisine although delicious... is not usually my cuisine of choice & I prefer local food. I understand that for DR that means chicken, rice and beans... and I am OK with that.
Any suggestions for local cuisine ( which in fact might mean European dining ! lol)

Any suggestions ???? We will be there 3 nights

There's a restaurant on the beach run by a Haitian lady. Best Dominican food I have eaten. Fish, chicken and pork chops plus all the normal DR vegetables. Good prices but not many tables and it has suddenly become very popular. The last two times I was there we had to leave because of the wait. The main road into town ends at the cemetery, take a right (east) and go approximately 800 meters. It will be on your left. The name escapes me.

There are plenty of little local restaurants on the main streets of LT. All you need to do is wander around a bit and you will find them. I use to frequent these. The food is good but nothing exciting. Local food also can mean fish. The Mero (sea bass) a las plancha (grilled) is very, very good. If you can go to Luis' Restaurant on the beach in Coson. This is about a 15 minutes ride from LT. This is a very informal place that specializes in grilled seafood and chicken with all the side, rice & beans, salad, papa fritas. This place probably has the best local food, prepared fresh and very delicious. Wear you bathing suit. You can swim while you wait for your meal. Also try the pina coloda in a hollowed out pineapple. Really, really good. Also in LT, Pizza Azul is a very good for local fare. This place in on the ocean side on the street running parallel to Plaza El Paseo in the tourist zone. Another place that has Domincan/Cuban food is Mojitos. This is located out near the entrance to Playa Popi. Hope this gives you some choices. Good luck and good travels.

The braised beef is also very good as well as the pork and okra with moro de abichuela.
