I was told by my vet during our checkup today that I should clean Owen's (8 weeks) ears every month or so. I have been trying to find info on what is the best types, or specific ingredients it should contain, or anything to give me an idea of what brand to use. So I was wondering what type of ear cleaner people here use. I have never had a dog that I needed to clean their ears before. Thank you all!

Years ago when I had dogs, my get suggested Hibatane soap. It's a very mild anti bacteria soap. Mixed it with 4 parts water, put it in the dogs ear and massage gently. Absorb the excess with a cotton ball.

The internet is loaded with recipes.

Try to find something that contains clean water, hydrogen peroxide and boric acid.

Commercial solutions are available from Amazon - epiotic is a good one. Tilt dog's head. Squirt in ear, rub vigorously to slosh it around. Stand clear. Repeat for the other ear.

An ear cleaning syringe is a big help if making your own cleaning solution. The bulb types not so useful.

Just wiping the inside of the ear with a strong dry paper towel each week can be a big help. A damp soft rag or face cloth can be used as long as you clean it between uses.

Either the OP is talking about normal ear cleaning, like us humans do, and in that case I just use the same cottonbuds I use on my own ears.
Its more to wipe away any eventual grime.........
Do not stick the cottonbud all the way down, obviously........especially if its a 100lb rottie ;)

Or its more of a medical issue, like ears clotted up far down the ear, and then, sorry, but no idea......
