The best thing is that Chinees turist do not like to stay in all inclusive they prefer to go out and see the culture of the places they visit, so Santo Domingo and other places has a great oportunity now.

A Russian friend living in Bangkok told me this, Asians will never come to Dominican Republic just to see a beach, they have a lot nice beaches closer and cheaper.

They may come to do "business". But they tend to hire other Chinese not other nationalities

A flight from Beijing will last for 20 hours with a stopover in Mexico, so forget about it. China has too many option of the world's best beaches in Maldives, Malaysia, Vietnam, India, Seychelles and do not forget Sanya Island - Chinese territory with amazing infrastructure, excellent hotels.

Chinese airlines fly only to "China friendly" airports, hotels their t/operators use should be certified for their standards and have many Chinese services.

Even Panamá could not get Emirates flight from Dubai, but Dominican officials are flying to Dubai and "negotiate" since like 15 years, they just forgot that Dubai is a "bit" different, It is not VERON.

Governent knows they can not go to China only showing Punta Cana, even Rainieri said that anounce didnt make feel him happy because he knows that chinees turist wont come here just for the beach, that kind of tourist is the one they search, they like Culture, restaurants, shopping and Casinos.

Here the post https://www.arecoa.com/destinos/2018/07/17/boom-turista-chino-ilusiona-poco-rainieri/

The first flights will be politics and will land in SDQ with stop in some place inNorth America and I wish the pick up Canada.

Hoteliers have been talking a lot about it, so Im sure they wont stay calm and will do everything to develop that market

With this comment I can tell that probably you are one of the people that think when talks about turism we only have beaches and beaches is the only thing we can show.

Rom fly via USA or Canada passengers should have visas, so it is easy to understand that those with US visa will go to Miami or Las Vegas, they have also Hawaii for their use.

Forget about flights from China to DR, it is impossible for too many factors.
Travelers who desire to visit DR may fly there TODAY via USA already, it is cheaper to use a connection than operate 20 hours flight. No,airline in China will provide aircraft for 20 hours flight, it will be too expensive and risky.

90% of tourists come to the DR, go to an All Inclusive resort and primarily remain there like they are on a cruise ship that goes nowhere. So there is a point regarding beaches.

As for Chinese coming here en masse for tourism, that is very doubtful given the time it takes to get here.

Depends, Windy. It takes at least 20 hours to get to Thailand from the Midwestern US, and those flights stay pretty full. I would imagine Chinese investment will lead to increased activity, whether business or tourism related. Sort of like what's happening in other parts of the Caribbean, and all over Africa.

They're positioning themselves for the next century.

Rainieri said do not have any expectations about chinees tourism, they dont like all inclusives, and I add they wont fly here just to see same kind of beaches they have in tropics nearby China. So they fly will with stop somewhere in the North will Land in Santo Domingo as will be also a politic flight, Santo Domingo has Culture, very good hotels, bigest chinees comunity in Dominican Republic too. Dominican Republic was already added in the list of the countries that chinees can visit for turism

Thailand has an attraction similar to the DR locations of Boca Chica and Sosua. Perhaps that is the attraction that keeps Thailand flights so full from Kansas, Toto. I doubt the Chinese would feel that attraction for the DR. After all, Thailand is so close to them. :squareeye

Increased activity in business is almost a certainty. Tourism won't be a factor until hyper sonic transport is readily available.

Latest on 20 hr flights here, perhaps a little bigger than most people realize. Beijing to Las Americas is not quite the same as Sydney to London.

they like Culture, restaurants, shopping and Casinos.

Casinos, Casinos, Casinos....
Yall see all of that pristine coastline
down the southwest side of the island?
Who's willing to bet the Chinese build an
airport down there and 10 years from now
it looks more like Macau than the Dominican Republic?
