Can anyone suggest what breed the dog is in the pictures below? My partner says he is a German Shepherd but I am not sure as he has short hair, a straight back and is more lightly built than most German Shepherds I have seen. He is getting old now and we would love to find a puppy like him.

Thank you for any help.

The Belgian Shepherd has shorter hair, bigger ears and is smaller than te German.... More agile too

Might be that breed

Doesn't look like a purebred german shepherd but he's at least part gs. Any chance he might be a crossbreed?

too slight to be a GShep

but the face is a bit different...

Can never tell here -- always a chance of an interloper

Cross - bred Belgian shepherd for sure..Great dogs, especially when slightly mixed with a resistant local breed..Love it..Ideal for here.

Beagle Mix and some sort of German Shepherd. My Jane is very similar in color. The adoption place said she is a Beagle/Lab. Pics if I can load them.

Also keep in mind that the American version of a German Shepherd has shorter hair than the European version, or so I have been told. I have neighbors with both variants. The EU version my neighbor had is more wolf like in appearance.

The dog in your photos does not look like a pure bred animal, but still somewhat retains the look of a US German Shepherd.

and the US dogs slope at the rear.... EU dogs have straighter backs... less hip problems too

I find the EU's to be better bred - generally.... just me saying my preference
