She is almost 8 yrs old... from Sosua.
Mix 50/50 Germ & Belg Shepherd

Recently she went blind - fast !!
so she hasn't got accustomed to her 'world'

Falls down stairs....bumps into walls - inside & outside.

Couldn't see me when I arrived today --- had vision when I left a month ago

Main man says a poisonous insect or centipede got her.... she eats bugs.

Being a Shepherd , she like to be by my side... but is lost now

Eating almost nothing....

Anybody ever hear of this before ??
the sudden blindness ??

Yes, guy I know who retired to Mexico had this problem with his Collie SARD or similar, sudden Macular degeneration that can occur in only a couple days Check online for Cushing’s syndrome I believe

Good luck, he/she will adapt in time

never a great eater....

all the age references fit... both types of disease

Is it treatable? If I recall, my friend had to give his Collie steroid injections and then tablets

Poor thing :( if you have stairs in your house, you might want to get a kiddie gate to avoid tumbles. I've seen people use bells also to help their blind dog follow them. Hope she feels better soon.

We had that happen with our elderly rottie. Started with white gunk, and lost most of her sight very quickly. Vet came immediately and left us with needles and a vial that we had to inject her with weekly. Not sure what it was, caretaker had it. Poor girl panicked last year when one of the hurricanes hit, got out somehow, and being mostly blind couldn’t find her way back in. Some young hoodlums saw her, big rottie, got scared and threw stones at her and killed her. Broke my heart.

Have you taken the dog to the vet? That should be your first move.

Firstly, YES LT.... vet was the first call.....second is to you

And AE...she still wanders off property...dangerous I think

Kate.... a few stairs...she’s learning well

Next vet suggested antibiotics 2x daily.... migh5 reverse the blindness
He suspects a parasite

We’ll see
