Mad props for Dr. Bournigal, flying a sailplane from North Carolina to Monticristi. That is an amazing feat...

What makes this crash especially troubling is that the CR22 has an emergency ballistic parachute meant to prevent many crashes, except emergencies below around 1000'AGL.

So far some comments here are not correct. It does appear to be Doc. Douglas Bournigal who is deceased but can we just stop the chatter and conjecture until more facts are known.
Thanks.

Chatter and conjecture? There was an airplane accident resulting in the loss of the lives of two good people. It was also highlighted in today's DR1 news. What chatter and conjecture are you speaking of?

It means that Wrecksum and myself know one of the deceased and possibly others on this forum do as well. Doc Bournigal was instrumental in probably saving my life.

Some of us do know some of the facts contributing towards this horrible accident.

We ask that only the true facts are posted once they have become public knowledge. If possible, please exercise a little discretion and sensitivity to for those that may be reading this forum and are connected to the poor souls that perished.
