Good Morning, I have to go to Santo Domingo tomorrow in order to pick up my residency card and renew my cedula. I have Googled but I would like to be sure that they address are straight. Can any one please tell me the name and exact physical location of the DGM office where I have to pick up my residency card and the name & physical location of the Cedula place? Thanks

DGM is on the malecon, a corner with heroes de luperon.
JCE is on avenida luperon, close to romulo betancourt street, opposite total gas station. there is another JCE on luperon so do not make a mistake.

If you are going to Santo Domingo by bus (Metro or Caribe) it's well worth the money to take a taxi to each of those places.

That's what I did, VERY relaxing that way.

JCE for foreigners is just off the big circle..... Plaza de la Bandera

as you leave the circle - going down the street towards the ocean , it's on your right.
as dv8 says - on Luperon , not on the plaza

I always carry a few 50 or 100 peso notes.... and ask a motoconcho to lead me when I get lost

DGM: Corner of Calle Heroes de Luperon and Autopista 30 de Mayo
OR: Enter in Google Easth: Lat: 18°26'39.96"N Lon: 69°55'36.77"W

Cedula:
From the Plaza de la Bandera Republica Dominicana. Large round-about.
Go south on Ave. Gregorio Luperon approx. .20 mile. On the West side. No signs that I can remember. Just south/next to: Magna Motors - Showroom Hyundai
Lat: 18°26'44.97"N Lon: 69°58'36.53"W

Got booted as I wrote this. You should have it down by now. Good luck

If using Google Earth copy/paste in the search bar without the "Lat/Lon":

18°26'39.96"N 69°55'36.77"W

18°26'44.97"N 69°58'36.53"W

As another said, take the bus or park your car and take a cab.
When we are in S.D. we use Jaime 809 706 0133.
Call him in advance is recommended. Speaks a little English. Fair and trusted.

In DR1 Daily News.

Tunnels and elevated sections to be closed
During this week, the Ministry of Public Works will be closing several elevated sections and underpasses for maintenance, cleaning and garbage collection. The closures will be in both directions from 10:30pm to 5am.

On Tuesday, 21 August 2018, the underpass on 27 February with Núñez de Cáceres will be closed as well as the underpass on 27 de Febrero with Av. Presidente Antonio Guzmán (Privada). The latter will also be closed on Wednesday, along with the elevated section on Manoguayabo, on the Duarte Highway. Thursday the elevated section on Luperón with 30 de Mayo highway will be closed and on Friday the Las Americas tunnel.

Bus and cab sound a lot better right now.

with or without the VIP, you'll wait a bit for the residency card.... 2 hrs maybe
papers and photo

the cedula is fast - 4,000 pesos- not 20 minutes in total

Good morning, The DGM office was crowded with Venezuelan young men. I had to wait for three hours to get my residency card at 3:30pm. I asked one of the DGM guys what time the JCE for Foreigners closed and he said 3:30pm. I went anyway and they close at 3:45PM!!! So I got my cedula done. The folks at DGM were extremely nice and helpful. Thanks to all that helped with advice and especially DR Solar for the exact directions and of course WW.

for future references, it is best to be in DGM as early as possible because of the long wait and the fact that JCE closes early. last time i went there is was the same sprint from one office to the other to make it on time.

I was wondering how it went for you. Thanks for reporting back and letting us know.

Congratulations on becoming a legal resident of the Dominican Republic. At times going thru the process can be more then just a daunting task. (aka: pain in the butt.) Just think? You get to go back and do it again in 2 or 4 years! Hopefully without all the pre-paperwork that was required the first time. lol

It was apparent that you had a clear objective thus... everyone wanted to help.
