Is there an actual beach in Puerto Plata City?
If so, how is it in comparrison with the beach in Sousa and other towns nearby?

In my opinion, the beaches in Sosua and Cabarete are better than the beach inside the city of Puerto Plata.

Long Beach

For years and years the beach in Puerto Plata was Long Beach--yes, in English!

it is located at the end of the road that goes past the ball park.

It is not the nicest beach, but it sure is the closest....

All along the North Shore there are beaches for just about every taste...take your pick.

Beaches in Puerto Plata

I agree with Ken. In Sosua/Cabarete area, the water is clear. The waves are strong but it's fun anyway.

The beach at Puerto Plata did not impress me much. This beach would be o.k. for children as the water does not get too deep. The small pools were interesting looking for fish etc.

Near Puerto Plata off the road to Santiago, Playa Cofresi has much nicer beach and our children liked it.
