Trash returns to the Malecón beaches after the rains; Brigades clean the area

Brigades of the Ministries of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) began the morning of this Saturday the cleaning of the palyas and the surroundings of the south coast of the Great Santo Domingo, that were affected again by the accumulation of garbage that was dragged by the rains of the last hours.

During a tour conducted by Listín Diario, it was possible to observe brigades working on the beaches of Montesino, Güibia and Fort San Gil, which comprise the Malecon of the capital.

The workers were summoned from early morning to remove the waste, mainly made of plastic and others that flood the area, according to one of the workers, who did not want to offer his identity.

He noted that until now an approximate of 40 garbage bags has been removed.

"After the downpours of these days the garbage returned to the Malecón, and that's why they sent us to clean the place," the man explained.

Among the debris can be seen trunks of trees, huacasles, cans, lilac plants, and plastic containers.
