I don't remember if we've talked about this before, so here goes.

There was just another big haul of garlic intercepted coming from Haiti. 1500 pounds.

But even when it's small amounts, as little as a few sacks, it makes the news.

Can NALS or one of our other native members enlighten us as to why these garlic interceptions are so newsworthy?

I also wonder what they do with the garlic they intercept. Certainly they don't destroy it.

Its all about the import taxes paid by the locals to bring the garlic in from abroad. The contraband coming in through the black market from Haiti bring the local prices down due to no taxes involved.

Supply, demand, taxes.
