We are staying in a resort in a suite which accomodates 6 people. My mom, sister, mother and our 3 children. Even though the suite accomodates 6, I think we will be cramped. If we wanted an additional room reserved now, they want to charge one of the children as an adult. This would cost us quite a bit more money.
My question is this, if when we arrive at the resort and there are empty rooms available, or a 2 room suite, what is the possibility of them letting us have a bigger or additional room? Should I tip the clerk $ 20, or $ 50? Or do the resorts frown on "upgrading". I know in the states or in Bermuda when I have asked we have always been upgraded at no cost if a room is available. Can anyone offer any insight on our chances in the DR? Thanks.
