If the father is a foreigner and the mother is a Dominican, and the child is born in DR, can the father get the citizenship based on the child? Thanks.

Im sure after being an Adult can ask at least first for a legal residence then do next step wich is citizenship. Most common way is by marriage with a Dominican.

Question about Dominican residency when marrying a Dominican:
when you marry here, do you have to travel back to your home country to apply for it?

Yes. Current rules stipulate residency requires that you first to apply at an Embassy or Consulate in your home country for a residency visa. Then you come to the DR and submit your formal application.

To get DR citizenship, you must first get residency regardless of marriage status to a national or any children born here.

It wasn't always this way but it is now.
