Hello all, new here and will be asking a lot of questions I should think.
Firstly, I'm interested in the area around or between Puta Cana and Miches.
Straight away, I'm interested in a marina (cheap) or anchorage (better).
A smallish apt. or house to get off the boat.
Me? I'm just an older guy who wants a simpler lifestyle, maybe golf once in a while. Do some fishing too.

Welcome to DR1. The practical realities of living in the DR are not unique but are an eye opener for many.

A boat and a house/apartment, doesn't sound like a simple lifestyle to me. On a boat you can be a tourist. Once you enter into a rental agreement for onshore accommodation beyond 60-90 days you become a resident - I gather from your post that you intend to be in country for awhile but you didn't state for how long.

Residency requirements can be had from the DR embassy closest to where you live or are now located if you live on a boat.

If you live on your boat while here you can act as your own security guard. If you are asleep in a bed onshore, you will need to make arrangements for someone to actively watch your floating palace.

You will need to do your homework. The DR is probably not as you imagine it to be. Good luck
