Morning Everyone,

I am due to be coming to Punta Cana on January the 1st for a couple of weeks.

I wanted to know the present situation for beaches in the area, I have read a few stories that the sea water is like chocolate milk and smells bad?

Can anyone who is on the ground there confirm if this is the case.

I like to swim in the sea and enjoy the crystal clear water that juanillo beach was famous for, is this not the case at present?

Hoping for some realistic genuine information on the current situation.

Thanks all.

The presence and amounts of Sargassum ebbs and flows. The conditions in November will not be reflective of the reality in January. You should ask again closer to your arrival date. About all we can say is that the beaches of Punta Cana are an area of historical seaweed concentration when the tides/winds bring it ashore.
