So bizarre. He helped to fund anti-Castro rebels for the CIA with drug money, but seems the CIA kicked him to the curb.

His first few months in the DR will be most interesting, indeed. I wonder who might reach out to help make a "soft landing" for this former industry rock star in our tropical paradise?

"More than 28,000 Cuban nationals convicted of felony crimes in the United States have not been deported to Cuba because the U.S. had no diplomatic relations with the Communist country until 2015. Of those Cuban felons released into U.S. society, about 2,000 were involved in murders in Florida and other states since the early 1960s, according to federal records."

That is not what happened. They were both acquitted in the first trial. But they fixed the jury in that one. Then Falcone plead guilty for a 20 year sentence. Magluta refused the deal and went to trial. He was convicted and ended up with a virtual life sentence. Falcone never testified in that case or any other case.

Sal Magluta resentenced

Sal Magluta was resented yesterday to 195 years in prison. The case was set for resentencing becasue the 11th Circuit had reversed one of his counts of conviction. Magluta had asked for a de novo sentencing hearing, which the judge denied. There were also some late fireworks as Magluta's lawyers filed a motion to recuse the night before sentencing, which was also denied. Here is the Herald article about the sentencing.

This decision will certainly be appealed. It will be interesting to see how the 11th Circuit deals with the Booker issues on appeal where Willie Falcon, Magluta's partner, was sentenced to 20 years as part of a deal and Magluta got 195 years for proceeding to trial. Is this reasonable?

They made an example out of his *ss in order to show other traffickers what
happens when you decide to take on Uncle Sam with a very costly trial in a
court of law. I guarantee you had Falcon not plead out, he'd be doing life as well.

This country receives dozens of former drug dealers who've been deported on
a monthly basis. I doubt after 30 years in prison this Falcon character is going
to go back into the drugs business.

Oh look, now that Willy Falcon is free, US authorities ‘miraculously’ find his brother living in Kissimmee, Fl (suburb of Orlando) under a false identity.

One out, one in.

If this guy makes it out alive, who wants to bet where he will ‘retire?’

Well you need to research this Sky.
Magulata was originally sentenced to 250 years, he appealed (reduced to 195 by the appellate court). There won't be any more appellate reviews...and he deserved it for the numbers he killed.

Word is Willy provided the Feds some information (perhaps on hidden assets or maybe other associates, like naming hitmen, of Sal Magulata) and this happened after Willy's brother, Gustavo "Tabby" Falcon, was arrested last year in Orlando and is awaiting his trial.

Maybe the information was given in exchange for getting his brother a lighter sentence ?

If I'm right it is only a matter of time seeing if Magulata sends word that Falcon is a rat.
