Miriam Cruz and Sergio Vargas at the Jaragua
Miriam Cruz and Sergio Vargas will be taking the stage of the Teatro La Fiesta at the Jaragua Renaissance on the Malecon of Santo Domingo on Tuesday, 18 December 2018. They promise to delight their fans with all their best hits and Christmas time favorites. Tickets are available online at Uepa Tickets and at the Jaragua box office. Seats go for RD$2,000 general admission for the show scheduled to start at 9pm.


Vive la Navidad in eastern Santo Domingo
Vive la Navidad is the free show on evenings in Christmas at the amphitheater of the Parque del Este in eastern Santo Domingo. On the program are Christmas songs, drama and comedy presentations and more from 7 to 11pm from 7 December to 5 January 2019. The eastern Santo Domingo city government has also set up the Parque de las Luces in the Mirador del Este Park, a show of 2.4 million lights, open from 6pm to midnight.

Tropical music at the Puerto Plata amphitheater
Alex Bueno, Aramis Camilo, Bonny Cepeda, Ramon Orlando, Krisspy, el Varon de la Bachata, David Kada, Lo Blanquito, Chimbala, La Materialista and Goldy Boy are on the list of performers for the 29 December 2018 end of year closing of the Puerto Plata amphitheater activities. The Megafieston starts at 8pm at the amphitheater that is located besides the Fortaleza San Felipe and fronting the Atlantic Ocean. The event is a Luis Medrano promotion.

Merengue at Plaza de España
The Ministry of Culture is presenting a merengue extravaganza show at the Plaza España in the Colonial City. It will coincide with the winter version of the Long Night of Museums, when museums in the Colonial City stay open until late at night and admission is free.

On the list of performers for the evening are Eddy Manuel and Ileana Reynoso, accompanied by the Dioni Fernandez and Conjunto Quisqueya orchestras. The host for the evening is Aidita Selman. Saturday, 15 December as of 8pm. The Ministry of Culture says the event celebrates that the Organization of American States declared merengue as cultural heritage of the Americas in May 2018.


Sunrise Airways flies direct to Havana, Cuba
Santo Domingo again has a non-stop flight to Havana, Cuba. Sunrise Airways began the flights with departures on Wednesday and Sunday from SDQ. Tickets are US$399. Company president Phillippe Bayard and his son Jonathan accompanied passengers on the inaugural flight to Havana. Sunrise Airways is based in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
