Just a quick note to describe trip to Cap Haitien on Friday, August 9 and return Monday, August 12:

The bus rides back and forth are fine except for the multiple baggage searches on both sides. Excruciatingly slow. Nothing is done in parallel and there were redundant inspections on the Haitian side. It's literally a 12 to 13 hour bus ride back and forth between the Capital and Cap Haitien. This is using Caribe Tours, which I consider to be the best. Also on the Haitian side, they don't take credit cards.

I last came into the RD on April 7 so my overstay was about 3 months. I paid $4000 DOP and have the receipt. When I re-entered the RD yesterday, they again stamped my passport with the 30 days.

I am taking this to imply/assume that now going to and from Haiti does reset the clock. This is the opposite of what I have heard on here, but it appears to me to be correct. We will see what happens on my next exit.

Just FYI, the trip was great outside of the bus rides from hell. Unfortunately, except for the Carenage boulevard in Cap Haiten, very little has changed.

If anyone ever gets a chance to see an old movie called Serpent and the Rainbow, the initial scenes are filmed in Cap Haitien over the bridge into the city. The bridge and the filth underneath, including the pigs, have not changed in over 30 years. It looks exactly the same in today and in the movie. It's what I saw almost daily when I lived there.

Also, sorry the post is so long...but I'm retired.

    Welcome back.
Did they write 30 days in pen on the passport page as has been reported the airports now do?

Yes. They did when I arrived at SDQ on April 7 and again yesterday, August 12 at Dajabon.
