last saturday a robbery was reported in la dolcerie restaurant in SD. the victim had their watch stolen by an armed attacker.
the attack was first reported via twitter by a dominican deputado:

the victim is russian-american DJ, apparently. originally the politician mentioned that the stolen watch was over 150k dollar richard mille piece but recent reports give the value at 850k. what the heck. nice pay off for 5 minutes of "work" either way.

as a simpleton i never heard of this brand before but apparently they can get a lot more expensive than that. still, looks like there are sophisticated and cultured folks in SD who are aware of the value of such piece and willing to go extraordinary lengths in order to personally appreciate it.

i bet the thief knew exactly the value of the watch. there is a venezuelan gang in SD that was reported few times before. they specifically target pricey watches.

looks like venezuelans are quite cultured in the art of chronometry as other latin countries also reported the same problem.

Today’s DR1 news:

Police says Venezuelans are behind robbery of expensive jewelry in public places
The National Police suspect Venezuelans are behind the assault and robbery of a Richard Miller watch of a customer at the La Dolcerie in Piantini neighborhood of Santo Domingo on Saturday, 9 February 2019. Police director, General Ney Aldrin Bautista said that investigations so far lead to a Venezuelan gang. Surveillance camera footage is being analyzed, he said.

The Police said the person wearing the watch was a Russian-American DJ who has been living the in the Dominican Republic for the past four months. The watch sells for around US$2 million.

Last week the Police had arrested members of a Venezuelan gang that robbed customers in malls. The Police shared a video that showed how the criminals would choose their victims and set up the robbery. The victims wore expensive jewelry and watches.

US $2 million ! - if that is the value then the guy is even stupider than the report I read for wearing that around Santo Domingo.
I'd like to see that watch.
Must have had almost as many diamonds as Coby Bryant's 'take-me-back-baby' $4 million dollar ring.

hoy links do not open for me, maybe the ones below are better:
http://hoy.com.do/identifican-a-qui...eloj-de-13-millones-el-sabado-en-la-dolcerie/
http://hoy.com.do/policia-analiza-v...8-millones-asaltante-tenia-acento-venezolano/
you will note the articles give the value of the watch as 8 (160k dollars) and as 13 million pesos (so 260k). so where did the 2 million dollars come from?

I had the same question. But I saw Mrs A&E posted it. Maybe it was an english online translation that had the exchange rate wrong.
Maybe the DJ is claiming that on his insurance, if they would cover it in the DR ?

I posted a link, open it you see the watch....wel een picture of it.

that company makes many watches at different price range, no article specifically mentioned what particular type was stolen.
