No doubt the bomberos are working as hard as they can, but I suspect the equipment and personnel to fight these large fires just do not exist in most municipalities. If you were to pull resources from elsewhere that would leave those areas vulnerable.
Those helicopters could have been useful when the Sousa dump was ablaze last week.
came back from my morning run. there is one helicopter doing rounds: filling up in a bay and then dumping the water. the loop is pretty short and takes less time to complete than my kilometer. i did not see any flames or smoke.
the fire was fought by the teams from as far as santiago, including people and equipment form nearby airports and the staff from the airbase. they did pull all the strings.
Does anyone have an update on the state of the Brugal Distillery Fire? Last I heard, it had been burning 24 hours and they were dumping water on the place with helicopters....:ermm:
