Hi I am going to Santo Domingo next month staying at the Melia Santo domingo Hotel. Ive been told by many people leave all valuables at home. I know there is theft everyone you go but please tell me how true is this????? Should I leave my good jewelry, sneakers etc... home? I know this sounds crazy but I trust this forum. Also I heard that when I go I should plan on having sex can you give me info on this, I control myself right???? I know the Dominican men love the gringas haha!

Go outside the Melia hotel and walk down 50 yrds. to the Jaragua and hang out at the Merengue Lounge. You should be spotted in about 12 seconds by talented Dominican dancers that will charm your pants off. Or just walk around the casino floor. It won't take much. Unless you look like the Bride of Frankenstein, you won't have any problem getting snagged by Dominican men.

You should have a good time, since you can walk to the center of town if you want. If you take a right out of the hotel you will hit a great beer hall down the street a couple of blocks...
