    If Dominicans have to go more than 30 days without a holiday weekend, they go into withdrawal. In the US, the holidays have different "themes" and are celebrated differently. In the DR, every holiday is celebrated by blasting loud music and getting blindingly drunk.

    Especially on Sunday night, because well, you have to go to work the next day.

    May 1st is the equivalent of Labor Day here. Looks like they'll celebrate it on the 29th to have yet another 3 day boozefest.
