    Default Venta Libre

This question is for those of you who have imported American made products into the DR. I’m helping someone in DR who doesn’t speak English, and she needs a “venta libre” from the manufacturer/seller. We’re at an impasse because we don’t know what that is, the seller doesn’t understand what she wants, etc. can someone explain in plain English what this document is and what it is for? I presume Aduana?

Mr Mat says it is a document he thinks from impuestos internos which allows you to sell things free of tax.

If this is for pharma/chemical product (e.g. beauty etc) it means over the counter. In other words that it does not contain any ingredients which would be restricted or require prescription and/or authorization.

I finally got to the bottom of this. Here’s a link that explains what it is and how the American company gets one, in case someone else ever needs this.
