Quite true that most Americans are of poor INTERNAL health (could still look fine on the outside) - processed, nutritionally dead, fatty foods, big pharma, GMOs, Glysophate, fluoridated water, Smoking, etc. I eat healthy and organic, and yet I feel better every time I travel outside the US!

And combine that with ALCOHOL which seems to be a common factor in many of the deaths.
There was an earlier discussion about bad alcohol. Must be still going around in the PC area.

Just now, several people of a high school graduation group got food poisoning at PC Hard Rock, specifically from a Japanese restaurant. I got sick from sushi from Walmart Mexico. Best to stick with only cooked food in Latin America and Carribean.

I think what the song is saying is that people often escape to pursue new dreams while running from their problems. In the end, their dreams escape them because they bring their problems with them. That’s my sense of it. Buffett spent years in the islands and met expats from all over the world, some who successfully integrated into a new life, others who didn’t. He felt the song lyrics said it all. During my winter stays, I talked to various expats at the marina in Luperon. Guys who decided to leave their families and responsibilities, buy a boat, and head to the islands in pursuit of paradise. Some we’re well off, others destitute. It gave me a better understanding of the lyrics of the song. Simply put, paradise is not for everyone.

Believe it or not, the DR has been bashed for a very long time. The current focus by US media is only the tip of the iceberg in this department. On one hand ignored and on the other bashed is basically the international story of this country. Its almost a miracle that the DR even exists.

exactly. if you go to a caribbean country, you would be smart to eat well cooked food. these daredevils who ask for their steaks with blood running out are asking for trouble.

ever seen a Dominican ask for a rare hamburger? they know better. that is why the bandera is rice, beans, and a STEWED meat.
