Judy bc it’s a waste of TIME and money for residency imo for most snowbirds or many that live here or go back and forth a lot.
I’m thrilled I haven’t wasted the money to renew my residency. When I NEED to I will but I will not be wasting my time on that annoying stuff.

If you feel you need to great but it is NOT A MUST for everyone as of now.

I think people have been saying since I got here almost 7 year ago that things are going to change soon with exit fees lol.

    Life is cruel...

I have friends - Americans - who have been regular overstayers for 30 yrs
    They own houses & cars....

They have been here long enough to know when things are 'imagined' and are 'real'

They are starting their residency applications

    This ain't no sueno..... it's a reality
How hard will the punch be...??

Stick your chin out to see......

The bookings so little to no decline

    New reading glasses needed

    Read today's DR1 news
    ========================================
Flight bookings and cancellations returning to normal

The slump in air bookings and increases in flight cancellations to the Dominican Republic that coincided with media coverage of tourist deaths in the country appears to be reversing, according to ForwardKeys. From 1 June to 2 July, air bookings from the United States to the Dominican Republic for July and August had fallen by 84.4%, when compared to the equivalent period in 2018, ForwardKeys said. But now the publication reports that by 26 June, bookings were again exceeding cancellations.

FowardKeys also found wavering interest in the Caribbean destinations that seemed to be benefiting from the Dominican Republic's decline: the recent increases in air bookings to Jamaica, Bahamas and Aruba fell starting 26 June. Jamaica, for example, which had experienced a 54.3% year-over-year increase in bookings 17 to 25 June, was only up 13.4% from 26 June to 2 July. The Bahamas was up 45.3% 17-25 June but up 13.3% from 26 June to 2 July.

very dramatic, loaded with innuendo. Although I have no idea what kind of normal thinking human would invest in assets without a legal status.

You're cryptic writing today, which looks like you may be singing a few notes there, possibly sitting out by the water enjoying a few at ChoriPan, you are talking about two different worlds.

One is the world of a middle class snowbird, non resident, who may buy an SUV or even build a house. These people stand good chances to lose their investments if some kind of dramatic "crackdown" is implemented. Multi-million dollar abandoned projects in Dingo are money laundering vehicles, Bill. You should know this (meaning considering all your "miles" in DR).

Chori Pan has changed drastically... gone to hell
    all sold
The original owner has retreated back to his first location...
gone - gone - is everything else

No.. on the contrary... your unsupported statement about foreign ownership is contrary to the current world
    The global economy

So many, many people own little or big in other countries.... FLA trailer parks for one
    My example was the pinnacle...

But Mr Joe Blow owns in another country... I have !

Yes - perhaps I dislike blanket statements... such as your is/was
But really.....can you substantiate that only --- or few others - own in the DR

    I doubt it
Still I challenge you to take the survey
Most of the 'worried ' posts seem to come from people who fear they will be restricted...

Or the other ingenues who think nothing will ever change....
Them I perceive as Ostriches...... something about sand & heads

    A more straightforward post ??
    not too cryptic ???
    I hope
