Cliff Notes- Spanish I and other levels

Remember Cliff Notes when you were a student? I remember some people relied on these study guides because they did not go to class or read the assigned literature book and hoped they could still pass a test or course.

Cliff Notes are good for review of course material or if used for languages they can clarify grammatical doubts and help students practice the language.


Check out Cliff Notes Spanish I and there are other levels as well. The quizzes are quick and fun. I really like the section on idiomatic expressions. It is always good to know these in any language. Even if you are not a beginner it is good to review this level and you can also help others with their Spanish.

I have always wondered about por and para. Por dentro, but para afuera! No I didn´t go over anyone´s notes, but have asked a few people over the years, no help.

What do you think each expression means? Maybe that is the reason for the doubt/ confusion.



*Para afuera or para fuera

*Por dentro (idiomatic expression) meaning inside and not the opposite of para afuera (referring to this example)


The meaning is figurative.

Ej. She is beautiful inside and out (meaning a beautiful person) / Ella es bella por dentro y por fuera


Look at the idiomatic expressions in the Cliff notes. They are helpful.

Por and para is also a pet peeves of mine (MP are you a mind reader ?). Simplemente because in French, we would use the same word "pour"

Not as bad as I thought, since I did 18 out of 20 (90%) in the quizz. I don't really know why, just chose what "sounded" right to my ears in the context.

What can I say. Certain grammar points in Spanish challenge people at all levels especially in the beginning. Por/ Para is one of them as well as Ser/ Estar, Saber/ Conocer- although you should not have any problems with the Saber/ Conocer because it exists in French and the concept is the same- Savoir/ Connaître.

Felicitaciones. 90% es excelente. Believe it or not instinct is very reliable. If you are hearing the language enough a lot becomes natural on its own.
