Car Care Hint

In reading my various car forums...

Care of windshield wipers came up....
something in this country is important.... or will be after the drought

Wipers pick up dirt on almost every wipe..

Obviously, keep a clean windshield & clean the blades

Using a vinegar wipe for the blades gives a good cleaning... easy
Maintaining the rubber is Step 2... Vaseline is the ticket
Today, I used cocoa butter... no Vaseline in this house.... (hold the rude comments)

Anyway .. just a tip

The other thing I have embraced in NoAmerica is the waterless car wash
It is from the airplane industry.. applies a thin ceramic type coating that repels dirt
Their tire spray is a flat black finish that repels dirt

Pretty handy... with or w/o water

70% - 90% isopropyl alcohol (regular rubbing alcohol) keeps the rubber clean & soft.

I just want to go to the cupboard....

Others say - Buy this special stuff....

He is grating on the nerves
They have a slew of researchers for their content
Scotty probably doesn't even wash his own car

his cars are all so old that if he washed them they would disintegrate

I just change my blades as soon as they stop wiping properly.

Usually your advice is spot on, however, Vaseline??? Would that stuff not just leave streaks.
As far as Scotty goes, his advice is great but the tone of his voice and the fact that he yells all the time is off putting to put it mildly.
Imagine being around this guy on a regular basis. Why the yelling, he is not Dominican.
Anyone try the silicone blades?
I am buying the denatured alcohol today. That makes good sense.

My guess is a thin film on the rubber...not goopy.
apply sparingly

I used cocoa butter the other day here - worked like a charm

as Mikey the cereal kid says...
Try it - you'll like it !!!

I used to use "RainX", but have not been able to find it in the D.R. anymore.

Learned that from a private airplane pilot.

No need to even turn on the wiper blades at highway speeds.
Water just beads off.

I use it too.... and bought their brand of blades...

Not here though

...no need for Rain Ex or anything expensive....just use isopropilico alcohol (in any pharmacia) or is also called rubbing alcohol clean the blades with that, with paper napkin....we used that at the car dealerships years ago and still do today..before you change blades use this alcohol..you will be surprised at how long the old blades last......Cortez....(my old user name is USA DOC...If DR1 will let me reset my password it will be again).......

I have Rain X blades on one of my cars and they work great. It is worth the extra money they cost. I do think I need to clean them since I have had them a while.

I know people who wear dark uniforms for work and they wash their uniforms in white vinegar. The white vinegar will not fad their uniforms like detergent. I have tried it on dark clothes and it seems to work. It makes sense it would be good for cleaning wiper blades.

Hey Doc... how goes it ???

Back to vinegar...
put in the wash load...breaks down the hard water and softens towels

Spray on hair after washing -- makes it fluffier

i have just been told to drink apple cider vinegar in water every day. supposedly, it breaks down hard water, and retards the formation of kidney stones..

heard that one, ww?

spray on hair? won't that make you smell like a salad?
