Miss Punta Cana Clauvid Cabrera Daly is the daughter of physician Claudia Daly and agronomic engineer Nelson David Cabrera. She won the Miss Dominican Republic contest held on Sunday, 18 August 2019. Color Vision, Channel 9, broadcast the beauty pageant. Runner ups were the contestants for La Romana and the National District.
Daly has been preparing for the role since she was four years old. A story dating back to 2008 in the Listin Diario tells that when she was four, she convinced her mom to enroll her in the Barbizon Modeling Academy. From there she moved on to study at John Casablanca modeling school. Daly would participate in her first international pageant when she was seven years old. Sponsored by Gatsby Dominicana, she represented the country in the Miss Mini Nations 2008 contest held in Brazil. She won the title.

Cirque du Soleil in Punta Cana
Cirque du Soleil will be performing its Bazzar show from 29 January 2020 through 23 February 2020 at the Punta Cana Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
Cirque du Soleil describes the show as “an eclectic lab of infinite creativity where a joyful troupe of acrobats, dancers and musicians craft an awe-inspiring spectacle.”
In making the announcement, Finn Taylor, senior vice president Cirque du Soleil, promised foreign and Dominican tourists a unique experience. He said Bazzar is the 43rd original Cirque du Soleil production since 1984. The show has toured in India, Oman, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Lebanon, Turkey and Egypt and now this will be its first site in the Americas.

The Fundación Ciencia y Arte Inc. announces its 23rd Feria Feria Ecoturística y de Producción will take place 21 November to 1 December 2019 in San Cristóbal. The weeklong event serves to highlight the ecotouristic attractions of the chosen destination. Organizers this year are focusing on the Pomier Caves, where this year the event will be centered.

350 couples to dance merengue in Guinness Record-seeking reality show
Show producers Alberto Zayas and Valentín Báez are undertaking the reality show this coming 26 November 2019 (National Merengue Day) on Telesistema Channel 11. They plan to bring home to the Dominican Republic the Guinness Record for Most Persons Dancing Merengue at the same time. The record is held by Russian dancers that set the record for “The biggest merengue dance” in 2013 with 330 couples costumed and dancing merengue in synchronicity.
The plan is to synchronize 350 couples dancing merengue non-stop in the Colonial City for the “Un record pa’l merengue” production.
Zayas says the reality will start with auditions in leading Dominican cities, their dance schools, to get the people involved and turn the show into a country branding event.
A theme is being created for the event by Antonio González. They hope that it will become part of Dominican culture in the way iconic merengues such as “Compadre Pedro Juan” is. The song will last for four or five minutes but during that time, the challenge is to synchronize the dancers.
