On Sunday, the Chinese community in the Dominican Republic is celebrating the Moon Festival. This is a yearly celebration with activities in Chinatown, in the National District.
Activities are scheduled for Av. Duarte between Av. Mexico and Benito Gonzalez Street on Sunday, 15 September 2019 from 4 to 8pm.

The event coincides with the full moon. It is a traditional Chinese celebration that takes place around the world on the fifteenth day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar. This is when the moon is full and bright, which for the Chinese means it is time to celebrate!

On the schedule is a performance of the folkloric ballet of the Ministry of Tourism, the University Rondalla of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo, a cooking show by the Dominican Gastronomy Federation and the Yao business group; Kung-fu by students of the Chinese Dominican Cultural Institute and Taichi by students of the Victor Jota School of Traditional Martial Arts, the participation of our composer and singer-songwriter Henya and the traditional Dance of the Lions. There will be stalls selling Chinese and Dominican gastronomy (food trucks), sale of moon cakes, face-painting for children and at the end, the closing with a fireworks show.
