Does anyone know if there is any tax on buying gold coins or bars online and shipping them to DR like by CPS?

No tax, because it is never going to arrive...

Besides, the courier companies do not accept money, bullion etc.

Not even an idea worth discussing but go ahead and try it. Most bullion shippers use FedEx insured requiring a signature. But FedEx won't ship bullion to DR and if they did someone other than you would "sign" your name. Poof gold-gone.

Take possession elsewhere and sneak it in. Or buy it in-country, no shipping.

Is it possible to buy the gold in the DR?? I would assume that the per ounce is standard internationally.

CG nailed it but why would you want to import gold here? Its not like you can spend it anywhere here and there's the risk of having it taken from you when you leave.
