Hi gang,

I am in need to buy a laptop rightaway. Does anyone have a suggestion as to where I could get quality product without getting ripped off? Santaiago or Santo Domingo is Ok.

Buying a laptop here is not a good idea, too expensive as compared to the US. But if you are in a hurry... think of RD$20,000 for starters (slightly older models). Need help? Give me a call.

I just got my Compaq system delivered here.

I sent my new Compac PC,17"monitor,and color printer here to Santo Domingo,via "EPS" mail service.I was charged $RD1,150 pesos for customs duty.The duty is about 4.75 % of the value.I am HAPPY!:cool: CrissCCCCCCCCCCC

I know a guy in Santo domingo that sells cheap Computers.
I bought my Pentium 4 1,5 Ghz 512mb ram, dvd , cd burner , webcam, suround system, scanner, printer , 60GB hardisk , 64mb Tv-out videocard. ALL THIS for just 1000 US dollars here in Santo domingo, the guy also sells Cheap Lap tops.

Buy your laptop with a credit card off e-bay, their half.com subsidery or direct from IBM as I did. I saved 60% over retail buying a leftover A-20 series. And the best part: I found out it is actually an A-21.
You can have it rush-delivered via UPS or Fed Ex. Drop me a line or call and I'll tell you more about this.

Pib, How much more would you expect to pay in the DR vs USA for the same laptop? If its much more than the cost of transport and the duty taxes....then there's a business opportunity!!
