Default Cost of Dentures or Implants

My mother is in need of either a full top and bottom plate (or implants). I have not researched this for her a lot as of yet, but wanted to ask here. Top is more urgent than bottom, and she could likely wait 6 months or so between having each set removed/replaced. She will need to have her new teeth within the year.

She is 58, and has all original teeth so far. For the entire procedure to be done here (in Canada), she will pay $4000 out of pocket plus have $2000 covered by her insurance, so a grand total of $6000. She has an appointment with an oral surgeon for May, but I told her I'd see what options she might have in the DR.

Has anyone had this done? If so, where?

    Thanks in advance.

I’ll post to bump this up just in case. Perhaps I’ll have to research.

Thank you William. Maybe this was the place in Santiago that I’ve heard of before.

And there ar other, less expensive options!!

The Cibao Dental Spa was used by our Robert, then one of the DR! owners...

He praised them to the roof.

If you send me a PM, I will give you a few of my ideas.

Right - the country is full of good dentistry.

My wife's last visit to a Toronto dentist -
he praised her work and acknowledged the caliber of dentists here

    Lots of options... pricing varies

Thank you both for your responses. I remember coming across the thread on Cibao. I believe it was recommended to me for a different dental problem of my own at one point too.

Before they do implants they will evaluate if they can do root canals and crowns.

If they cannot do root canals and crowns then they need to extract the teeth, install the implants then it's a 3 month+ wait to allow the tissue to heal around the implants before they make the new teeth then install the new teeth. By far a longer process.

You mentioned $6000 as total cost to to have this done. A full set of implants albeit half the price than say the US will cost well in excess of $6000. I had 5 teeth done at Cibao. Root canals and crowns. 1 did not take and ended up an implant.
How do you chew for the 3 month wait? It seems almost impossible.

A quote from a reputable SD dentist for implants, including taxi to and from the airport, including an apartment: $23,000CDN. So that’s well beyond what dentures would cost here in Canada. We will continue to check options in the DR.

If anyone has Hillbilly’s email or a better way to contact him, please let me know. I sent him a PM but I don’t think he has seen it.
