Arrow ATM Fees: "Hot Off the Press"

    Hello All,

Given a choice, it's best to find the lowest ATM fee. My "go to" has been a Progreso ATM at Supermercado Nacional on El Conde, Sto. Dom. At RD$150 the fee is siginificantly lower than Banco Popular (RD$250).

Until today! The machine was replaced by a Scotia Bank machine. When I logged in I noted that Progreso was referenced. The fee was RD$200, < than Banco Popular but > than the previous Progreso ATM.

Q1: Is the relationship between Scotia Bank and Progreso similar to the relationship between BanReservas and BHD? (I can use my B.R. debit card at either of the latter).

Q2: Does anyone know if Progreso's fees have now increased? If not, I will search for their ATM's and pay RD150 when I can.

I use foreign ATM cards (Europe). The ATM at the corner at Janet’s supermarked Cabarete has no fees also, but limited to 3x2k withdrawals. Scotia Bank has 2x10k limits.

Riva is correct : Scotia Bank ATM in Cabarete ( and anywhere in the DR ) has no fees when using a Scotia Bank ATM card. Any other ATM card - there is a fee. BOA also used to be free - but I don't think any more.

I am living here, using Scotia Bank about two times every week with my foreign debit card. No fees charged by Scotia.

I have had family visiting too, No fees charged by Scotia
And different foreign bank cards were used, no participation or relation to Scotia

Might be of limited interest to the OP, I do not know if this applies to all Scotia branches/DR

Seriously, do you think I make this up and bother posting it online?

As I spend more than 30k EUR every month here in DR, I simply refuse to use a bank that charges ATM fees.
It would be stupid, as it could easily cost me more than 4000 DOP monthly in fees assuming a 250 DOP fee.

In my home country the situation is reversed, some stores refuse to take cash as it costs more than handling online transactions. No banks has ATM usage fees where I come from.

The ATM usage fees are dinosaurs of the past and may only exist because of ignorant customers.
