My husband and I just returned from our first trip to the Dominican Republic. We spent our first night at Rocky's Bar & Grill in Sosua. Marco was wonderful and I would reccomend a night at Rocky's for anyone visiting Sosua. We don't speak any Spanish so it was nice to have someone explain the ins and outs to us.

After a night at Rocky's we got up bright and early to catch the Caribe Tours Bus to Samana where we would be staying for the next few days. As it turns out, the bus was broken down that day. Marco arranged to get us a taxi with a wonderful driver who spoke some English. The drive from Sosua to Samana was amazing without a moment of boredom. Our taxi driver, Jesus was kind enough to stop at some points of interest that he thought we might enjoy.

We spent a few days in Samana at a resort and visited Samana Bay Village. Then back to Sosua for another night at Rocky's. We visited the Synagogue and then some shopping. The vendors are something else. That is all I will say on that subject.

While our trip was short it was amazing. Probably the most beautiful place I have ever visited and the people we met while there were wonderful. I would like to thank all of the people who have contributed to this forum. Without all of the information I learned from the forum I am sure that I would have had a much different experience in the Dominican Republic. We were fortunate to be able to experience the local culture rather than shutting ourselves off in an all inclusive and have brought back memories that will last a lifetime.

If you hooked up with Marco because of my posts I certainly hope you heeded my advice about going to the Casino with that "Kiss of death"! LOL

Is the new Bartenderess pretty? How is Nicki? Glad you had a good time. I am headed down as soon as I find a decent airfare.

We steered clear of the casinos. Good thing because I had forgotten about that post. The bartendress is very pretty and friendly as well. I don't think we met Nicki. Everything at Rocky's was great. The whole trip was great but Rocky's really felt like home base.

I understand 100%. I don't even stay there but tell people to reach me there because that is where I hang my hat while in town. Glad you steered clear of the casinos with the "Kiss of Death". He is HORRIBLE to go to the casino with.

Nicki is the guy from Romania you will see at breakfast. Marco told me about the NEW gal. Havent been down in a couple of months but am on my way soonest. Hope she has a sense of humor. The gal she replaced was a slice. Next time ask about Ester's eyeballs:)

Glad you enjoyed yourselves. Great guy for a Cannuck. LOL You aint a cunnuck are ya?

If the current bartender is the same one that was there last month she is a little hottie...great body! By the way...what do you usually play when you go to the casino and how is the casino in Sosua?I have stayed away from it so far as I hate to go away on vacation only to spend my nights inside a casino losing money.See you later.Saw hi too all the hippies in Woodstock for me.
