I have been 3 times in the Dominican Republic (I am Spanish) and really enjoyed it there. Now I am going to spend 6 months in Santo Domingo and I am sure it will be very different to being a tourist. I would really appreciate hearing your experiences, to get an idea of what it is like...

Hopefully will be able to meet some of you who are there soon,

I would say Santo Domingo is a fast paced city moving at a slow speed...or the other way around. Hometown folks ..at least the Dominicans that live here are. I always thought of a big city being cold but its the opposite here. All are friendly.
You can pretty much find all you need here and its not too dificult getting around once you learn the system, which I'm still learning.
Let me know when your coming..it will be nice to meet you.

It is like Mallorca or Ibiza during august

It is a friendly city with too many people and no beaches...

It has it's society.

You might be interested in visiting the Casa de Espa?a and I am sure that they willhelp you get oriented..

the ever helpful,
