Can any one corroborate e-mail today from one of my correspondents on vacation there that at least two , probable USA citizens (women) were murdered in Boca Chica (hotel name omitted) in a drug deal gone (very) bad?

By stabbing I am told.

If false then there is not need to mention the hotel, though it is not an All Inclusive Resort.

I just made a call...

Two American girls stabbed and killed in a drug deal.

Calypso hotel, it's a few blocks back from the street.
Not an all-inclusive, a 30-40 room 3 star property.

If I get any more news I will post it...

I Know the Calypso

Didn't want to mention it unless someone else heard this. Not really a tourist-risky issue anyway if it was a drug deal - still, quite a happening.

Drug overdose is what I'm told

Hmmm. The story that came my was this evening was that it was 3 Dominican girls, 2 Dominican men, and 1 American man.

Two of the Dominican girls are now dead (one being a friend and a close friends of one of MY close friends), the 3rd in critical condition in the hospital. The men are all on the run.

I was told that he American injected the girls with "una droga muy fuerte". Cocaine.

This news comes in very sad and just a month or so after the death of one of La Cueva's (the disco) managers' untimely death (he was perhaps 40 at the most), an Italian everybody knew as Enzo Medio Loco, a super nice guy who supposed died from a mixture of hard sex, Viagra, and cocaine which caused a heart attack.

Please let this report be false.

3rd did not die, tells account of what happened, police know who to look for.

I'm told the 3rd did not die and has recovered. She gave the police an account of what happened.

There were 3 Dominican women, 2 Dominican men, and a Puerto Rican man. One of the girls that died, Marieli, at knew one of the Dominican men and police are looking for him.

This was not a drug deal gone bad. It was a robbery. Nobody was stabbed. The men injected the girls, robbed them of their jewerly, money, and cell phones and then left them there. The maid found them the next day, one in bad shape and two dead. Their clothes were intact, no rape.

None of the girls had ever injected drugs before. It was probably not the intent to kill the girls, but to put them out for a while so they could not report the robbery. All 3 girls are from Boca Chica. One lived in a very nice apartment, paid for by her boyfriend, to whom she was engaged and would marry as soon as the visa was approved. The other two lived in Los Coquitos.

The dead are Marieli and Milani (not sure on the spelling). Marieli had just spent the last year or so as an Evanjelica, long skirts and all but had given that up just months ago and was to marry.

Thanks Jim for the real low down on the tragic deaths of those Dominican girls. This has to cast a bad shadow over the Boca Chica community. I hope the B.C. police find the culprits. Does the D.R. judicial mete out death sentences or life in prison for such a heinous crime?

the DR has no "Death Penalty"!

But for the right price you can be sure that the guilty will meet an "accidental death" while in prison! Which is in many ways a "Sweeter" vengance!Billy Bob

.....I would not think they will look very hard.

I couldn't find a mention in Listin Diario or Hoy on line, and I would not hope for the Boca Chica cops catching anything (maybe dengue) unless there is money in it for them.

Make is scary for the tourists to read about and you will have Friday and Gannon on the scene looking.

Is there a national homicide squad?

Jim,
I am curious. You say that the maid found them the next day. Was it the house maid or a hotel maid? Any Idea what the victims were doing in a room with 3 guys? How were they injected? Where they held down?
I am a suspicious person by nature. I find it hard to belive that 3 men can control 3 women and still be able to forcibly inject them at the same time. We will probobly never know. Either way it is a lousy ay to die!

I have looked thru the papers and not seen a thing

Given the number of comments on this board, you would think that something as gory as this would make the front pages.

The probable robber up in Nagua generated some of the most revolting film ever seen on local TV-three pieces of carbonized humanity.... And yet the fact that three young ladies were so terribly missued....not a word so far?

The girl that Jim pictured, Marieli, looked familiar to me. I stayed at the Costalunga for nearly a week back in May and many girls would hang out at the Cyber Cafe. If you have a picture of the other dead girl, Milani, please post too.
I have to agree with Tony C. Something seems a little off kilter for 3 girls to allow 3 guys to inject them with drugs. But, if the girls were promised a good time, then led to a hotel room and had knifes held on their throats, what could they have done. Seems odd what Hillibilly mentioned - "scant information in the press". Maybe the local authorities don't want bad news about Boca Chica in the papers, because it is primarily a tourist beach town. Guess that will straighten up my spine and create more looking over my shoulder when I visit B.C. again.

IMHO, anyone who gets so alarmed about the drug-related murder of three girls (tragic as it is) that they would cancel their trip, probably isn't planning to leave home anyway.

Good grief, the world news is full of stories about the kidnapping and murdering of small children; about terrorist attacks on school buses, churches, restaurants and stores; about husbands and wives murdering each other; about shoot outs between drug gangs: about drive-by shootings; etc., etc., etc.

I'm happy to live in the Dominican Republic because it is about the only safe place left.

This was in Saturday's Listin Diario

At the bottom of page 8 there was this article

Tragedy
PN ARE LOOKING FOR COMPANIONS OF WOMEN FOUND DEAD

SANTO DOMINGO.- The Polic?a are looking for a puertorican citizen and a dominican that were in a room of a hotel in Boca Chica where two women were found dead and another in a serious condition and who is hospitalized in the Plaza de Salud.

The Police suspect that the foreigner, Ram?n Garc?a Lacen, and the local, Norberto Montero (Landi) put some cocaine in the room where Emilia Heredia Mu?oz, 35; Anni Mariel Jim?nez, 23, died; and Yirandi Ogando Ogando (Yessica) 18, is in serious condition. The event occured on the 22nd (of July) in a hotel in Boca Chica where the three girls worked as waitresses. According to the police version, the two men and another, unknown up to now, one, arrived at the hotel and rented room 209 where theycarried out sexual relations with the three girls, but near six in the morning they (the men) gave the girls a substance to inhale, that is thought to be cocaine, that immediately produced convulsions.

In her bed at the Plaza de Salud, Yessica told how they were contracted by Landi in the hotel where they worked as prostitutes, to have sexual relations with hin, the foriegner and another unknown man. She said that after having sexual relations, they gave her a white powder and then were beated by the men who fled from the place. The pathologist certified that Heredia Mu?oz and Mariel Jim?nez died from a pulmonary edema (caused) by inhaling cocaine.

The third girl was diagnosed with "diverse wounds, cuts to the lateral and lower face and tested positive for cocaine."

I don't think this really clears up much, but perhaps something will come up in today's paper.

I am impressed with how much attention that this has gotten on this board. Hear in Memphis, Tennessee, USA, unless it was a slow news day, it would have gotten a small mention in the paper. I use to maintain the Computer Aided Dispatch system used by the Memphis polices. This kind of thing go's on all of the time up hear.

Well, the reason for the attention is that Boca Chica is a relatively peaceful yet popular seaside town, where locals in Santo Domingo and foreign tourists like to frequent it's beaches. While violence does occur, it is relatively rare especially Dominicans preying on their own. This type of mayhem does not serve any purpose, when the B.C. community has been trying to bring tourism back to a level of pre-Sept. 2001.
